There’s something magical about a Halloween bonfire—cool breeze, cozy hoodies, the smell of woodsmoke… and a cast iron pot of chili bubbling away nearby.
This is my go-to fall recipe when I’m feeding a crowd or prepping for a night of trick-or-treaters and backyard laughs. I start with Carroll Shelby’s Original Texas Chili Kit (a pantry must-have), double it up, and stir in a little Slap Ya Mama to bring that Cajun heat. It’s bold, comforting, and comes together beautifully in my 7-quart coated cast iron—just like the way my family taught me back in the bayou.
The best part? It tastes even better the next day (if there’s any left)! Pair it with cornbread, sprinkle on some cheese, and serve it up with love.
